This is a true conservation tree that is well adapted to our northern woods. If you are using a mechanical tree planter, be sure to check max tree sizes compatible with your planter. Our 2-0 trees will average between 8-12 inches in size.
Balsam firs are slow-growing than other species ‘up north’. They are troopers though and grow well in a variety of soils and conditions. They’ll max out between 50 and 75 feet tall and have a beautiful cone shape to them (think most perfect Christmas tree). For best-growing conditions, they love well-drained, acidic soil, in full sun to partial shade.
