Chinese chestnuts can grow 40-60 feet tall.
It is noted for its resistance to chestnut blight which has nearly wiped out the native American chestnut.
It supports many wildlife species.
Prefers sandy loam soil, full sun, and is drought tolerant.
Can begin to fruit and produce nuts after 4th year. Although it is best to plant in pair for better yields.
This variety is highly blight resistant & best planted in pairs for fruit production.
At 40-60 feet tall & it supports many wildlife species. Nuts will grow after 4 years of establishment and look like a spiky tennis ball. Chestnuts prefer sandy loam soil, full sun, & can be drought tolerant. Some have used Chestnuts for pollarding and coppicing practices.
