Join us for our first ever VIRTUAL river cleanup. On a normal year, we’d host our Annual Cleanup on the Manistee River. This year things must be a little different. Please join us in spirit and canoe/kayak/paddle/or wade your way down a river or creek and pick up any garbage you see!
Please choose ANY river in Kalkaska County, the Boardman River, Manistee River, or Rapid River and pick up as much trash as you can. This includes beer cans, flip flops, wrappers, fishing lures (watch out for the pointy end!), and anything man-made or synthetic that wouldn’t normally be found in nature. The more the merrier, but please be responsible and keep COVID19 safety precautions in mind. It’d be best if you complete this challenge with your immediate family.
We challenge you to complete a section of the river and send us photos of your adventure and the results of your efforts. In your photo submission/report, please include the date and how many people were in your party, the number of river miles completed, and the amount of trash collected . DOn’t worry if you don’t know the exact river miles, you can also report where you launched and took out at, we’ve got handy cheat sheets to let us know how many miles.
The first 15 people to submit photos and reports to us will get a FREE Conservation District hat or t-shirt of their choosing! Photos can be submitted by posting to the District Facebook page or by emailing Renee at renee.penny@macd.org.
