Help us Plant Trees in Kalkaska!
We’re back at it again with our partnership with the Village of Kalkaska, Kalkaska Downtown Development Authority, and the Consumers Energy Foundation to plant larger trees along the KART Trail in Kalkaska.
This is a great family-oriented opportunity. You can ‘adopt a tree’ and watch it grow together for years to come.
Those interested in helping should meet at the Kalkaska Public Schools Parking Lot at 9:00 on Saturday, October 8, 2022. We will have the holes dug already and trees staged next to its home. We simply need volunteers to help us finish prepping the hole with compost, plant the tree, water it in, and mulch it. There are 14 trees in total and we should be wrapped up planting by Noon. (At least in years past we’ve had some super helpers and were able to plant 50 trees in 3 hours in a 2018 event!)
The DDA will be providing pizza for all volunteers with a ‘pizza party at the Pavilion’ after we finish planting all the trees.
No RSVP is necessary, simply show up ready to help. We will provide some shovels and landscape rakes, but participants should dress for the weather, wear closed toed shoes, and bring their favorite tools and gardening gloves.
