Let’s ease winter winter recreation with a plowed and paved trail!
For December’s Weeknight Hike, we will be hiking the KART (Kalkaska Area Recreation & Transportation) Trail right here in Kalkaska!
Meet us at the carpool lot located on the SW corner of W Kalkaska Road & west M-72 Highway, off of West Kalkaska Road (approximate address is 1851 W Kalkaska Rd, Kalkaska, MI). Parking lot is located at the red star on the satellite image to the right.
From the parking lot, we will walk an approximately two-mile loop on paved sidewalk.
Please wear comfortable shoes that have good grips. The sidewalks can get icy if the conditions are right. Participants can also BYOHL (bring your own head light) if you have one. There are some city lights to guide our way but due to daylight savings time, participants may want to come prepared.
This is a rain-or-shine event unless severe weather is in effect. All efforts will be made to post updates or changes to the schedule (if needed) at least 4 hours before the event.
For more info call the KCD office at (231) 258-3307 or email (kalkaskacd@macd.org). RSVPs are welcomed but not mandatory, simply show up ready to explore!
