Due to the COVID19 crisis and extended Stay at Home Orders per Gov. Whitmer, the Spring 2020 MiCorp events have been canceled to protect staff and participants. Stream Leader Certification
The Manistee River is a gem in Kalkaska County and Northern Michigan. Help us keep it that way by monitoring the river's health!
Join us to learn about bugs & stream ecology. We'll cover aquatic insect ID & monitoring procedures in the classroom AND the river. You'll become certified to lead others in-stream monitoring events. No prior experience needed, we'll teach you everything you need to know!
The certification class will begin at the Kalkaska Conservation District office in downtown Kalkaska (406 S Cedar St, Ste A, Kalkaska, MI 49646) at 99:00 am Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Please bring a sack lunch to enjoy while on a tour of our sampling locations. All equipment will be provided & waders are available upon request at least 24 hours prior to the event. Registration is FREE but required as this training is limited to 10 participants.
