Stump Tales for Educators

  • Cedar Creek Township Hall 2530 North 41 1/2 Road Manton, MI, 49663 United States (map)

This walking tour is primarily for natural resource professionals and educators.

This will be a short walking tour of a unique site showing the results of soil loss. Our area once had much richer topsoil compared to today. Our tour will show evidence of 2 feet of soil loss beneath 100-year-old tree stumps. We will discuss the erosion effects on the topsoil, what conservation measures were taken 50 years ago, and the role of soil restoration in today's forest management.

Please meet at Cedar Creek Township Hall, 2530 N 41 1/2 Road, Manton, MI 49663.

Contact Forester Larry Czelusta at larry.czelusta@macd.org or 231-775-7681 ext 3 to RSVP for this free workshop.
