“The Largest Gathering of Small Farmers in Michigan!”
Our staff will be attending the 19th Annual Northern Michigan Small Farm Conference (NMSFC) on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, MI. The NMSFC promotes and builds a local vibrant agriculture community, equips the small farm community with the tools to be successful, and provides a forum for the open exchange of ideas within the small farm community. NMSFC Goals are to 1) To provide an outstanding educational event that meets the needs of the attendees of the conference, 2) To provide a forum for the open exchange of ideas within the small farm community, and 3) to help to build a local network of small farms, community businesses, and local government for the expressed purpose of building the local food economy.
On Friday, January 26, there is a Farm School with various tracks for attendees to choose from:
-Track 1: Lean Farming — Production Methods for the Efficient Farm
-Track 2: Agroforestry — Designing Perennial Polycultures
-Track 3: Beyond the Farmers Market — Local Sales 2.0
On Saturday, January 27 there is a packed schedule for conference day. There are 4 different sessions to attend and each of those sessions have 9 speakers to pick from. Topics vary greatly but you can read more on the NMSFC website. There are large networking breaks between each session, a lunch with keynote speaker, and a trade show to network with like-minded folks.
While early bird registration has passed, there is still plenty of time to registration. The final registration deadline is January 19th. You can register at the door for an additional fee but lunch will not be guaranteed. Visit the the registration page for pricing and details to register today!
