Experience the Art of Forest Bathing

  • Kalkaska Conservation District 406 South Cedar Street Kalkaska, MI, 49646 United States (map)

Come experience the restorative practice of forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) with Stephanie Wiley, Certified Forest Bathing Instructor and Office Manager at the Kalkaska Conservation District. Although walking in the woods is a familiar activity for many in Kalkaska County, this guided session invites you to slow down intentionally and engage your senses more deeply. Stephanie will lead gentle, unhurried invitations that help you let go of everyday concerns, notice subtle sounds, scents, textures, and visual details, and cultivate a mindful, therapeutic connection to the forest. Participants can expect a calm, supportive atmosphere, simple grounding techniques, and time for reflection—tools you can carry with you beyond the trail to reduce stress, restore energy, and deepen your appreciation of the natural world. No prior experience is necessary; come as you are, dressed for the weather, and open to experiencing the woods in a new, healing way.

  • At this time, location is TBD - we will announce the location as we get closer to the date.

  • This is not a hike, but a mindful slow immersion into the forest. If you have any mobility issues, please reach out and let us know so that we can plan accordingly.

  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Barefoot grounding will be an option once we reach our starting location.

  • Insect protection is optional, but may better allow you to enjoy the experience.

  • Please let your loved ones know that you will be asked to turn off your phone or place it on Airplane Mode to allow a bit of a digital detox.
