The Kalkaska Conservation District in collaboration with Clearwater Township Parks & Recreation invite you to meet us at Patriot Park Veterans Memorial to learn all about what is popping up in the woods this spring!
Join us for a refreshing spring hike through the beautiful landscape of Northern Michigan where you will learn to identify flora & fungi, and discover which ones are safe & useful for foraging.
Whether you're a seasoned forager or a curious beginner, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for the plants around us and practical knowledge of how to responsibly forage. From wild herbs to spring greens, this event is the perfect opportunity to connect with nature and gain valuable skills for living more sustainably.
What to expect: a guided, hands-on hike through the trails at Patriot Park Veterans Memorial (trail has slight hills), tips on identifying plants, and information on which plants are safe to forage.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather! The entirety of this event will be spent outside in the woods. This is a rain or shine event. In the case of severe inclement weather (thunderstorms or weather advisories), we will reschedule. Updates will be posted here and on Facebook, and we will email those who have filled out the RSVP form (below).
This event is FREE and open to all ages. Don't miss out on this fun and educational experience—come explore, learn, and connect with the natural world this spring!
