Kick start your summer and celebrate Kalkaska Trail Town and the 25th Anniversary of the Grand Traverse Hiking Club on the NCT!

Featuring guided hikes on the North Country Trail to celebrate all the hard work to maintain the North Country Trail in our backyard. Join us afterwards at Chalker Park for a FREE community picnic and to learn more about other projects on the North Country Trail.

Guided Hikes:

• 8:30am Departure : Starvation Lake Road to Pickerel Lake State Forest Campground

  • 7 mile hike is approximately 3 hours

• 10:00am Departure : Twin Lake Road to Pickerel Lake State Forest Campground

  • 2.75 mile hike is approximately 1.5 hours

Join us after the hikes at 12:30pm for a brief program on Leave No Trace Principles and other trail projects. A FREE community picnic is to follow that has been provided by TC Energy (formerly TransCanada).

All buses will depart from Chalker Park (207 Laurel Street, Kalkaska, MI 49646). Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to load on the bus.
